However, this trip to Kochi, my first experience in Shikoku, was full of pleasant surprises. From tasting delicious local cuisine to exploring stunning tourist spots, each moment was a new revelation.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The unique local atmosphere and nostalgic charm of Kochi set it apart from other regions in Japan. It quickly became a place that I hold dear. therefore, I wholeheartedly recommend visiting Kochi to experience its authentic and enchanting character, a true gem in the heart of Japanese culture.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>ABOUT KOCHI, JAPAN<\/strong><br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\nKochi, located in the southern part of Shikoku, is a hidden gem in Japan, distinct from well-known destinations like Osaka,Kyoto and Tokyo. It&#8217;s celebrated as one of Japan&#8217;s most authentic local cities, perfect for a 3-day or 4-day trip.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kochi combines Japan&#8217;s rich history and vibrant local culture. Kochi Castle, a reminder of the feudal past, stands in harmony with modernity. The city is a culinary delight, especially known for &#8220;Katsuo no Tataki&#8221; (seared bonito). Its friendly locals and serene nature spots make it an ideal destination for those seeking a unique Japanese experience. Kochi is more than a visit; it&#8217;s an Kochi is more than a visit; it&#8217;s an encounter with the heart of Japanese culture.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>How could you go to Kochi, Japan?<br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\n<\/strong>There are two main options for traveling to Kochi: by plane or by train.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you choose to fly, there are numerous flights from either Haneda Airport or Narita Airport in Tokyo, taking about an hour and a half. From Osaka, there are also more than 5 flights daily, with the journey taking about an hour.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-259339 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/kochike.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/IMG_1037-scaled-e1718711148319.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1200\" \/><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The other option is traveling by train. If you are already visiting Hiroshima or Osaka, you can easily reach Kochi via JR (Japan Railways) trains. For those holding a Japan Railway Pass, no additional fee is required, making it a convenient choice. Though it takes longer, traveling by train offers scenic views of the natural landscape from the comfort of your train carriage.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-259338 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/kochike.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/20190826_104614.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"722\" height=\"531\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kochike.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/20190826_104614.jpg 722w, https:\/\/kochike.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/20190826_104614-300x221.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 722px) 100vw, 722px\" \/><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>1st day Trip to Kochi<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I took a flight from Tokyo Haneda Airport at 2 pm and arrived in Kochi at 3:30 pm. The 1.5-hour flight offered breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji and the endless Pacific Ocean.<\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Upon landing in Kochi, I easily reached the city center using the airport bus, conveniently timed with flight arrivals. The cost was only about 2500 JPY per night. Interestingly, most guests were international travelers from countries like America, France, and South Korea. Its charm lies in its traditional Japanese style. Hirame, with its delicate texture, was a delightful beginning. It&#8217;s a flat fare of 200 JPY within the city. As someone who grew up in a city without trams, I found riding them quite an exotic experience. They&#8217;re a familiar part of life for locals but carry a special charm for visitors like me. <br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\nIf you&#8217;re in Kochi, I highly recommend taking a tram ride.
